Her PhD was an historical analysis of the development of the role of sportsjournalists in Denmark including both print and broadcast journalism. In recent years she has in particular been interested in the relations between sport and television on the one hand and the audience's relation with television sports programmes on the other. Comprehensive empirical studies have been done in both areas, including also a historical study of the development of sports programmes on Danish television. Besides a general interest in television she has also made contributions on lifestyle programmes and been interested in theoretical issues and methodological challenges relating to entertainment studies and to reception and production studies.
